Weddings in Andalucia, Spain

My month in Spain was one filled with delicious tapas, gorgeous scenic views of the Costa Del Sol, and free flowing sangria! I was lucky enough to experience two weddings in this paradise - one at a seaside hotel in Nerja and one in Seville at a gorgeous 400 year old traditional Spanish style estate.

There are so many beautiful venues for couples to choose from in Spain, and it’s a very popular location for couples from the UK and Ireland planning destination weddings. The Hotel Balcon de Europa is situated directly on the beach, offering breathtaking coastal views for your reception, and there is even a small chapel around the corner for the ceremony!

For this wedding I worked with Patricia Ortiz from Patty Magic Weddings. She assists couples from all over the world in executing the wedding of their dreams in Spain. With a backdrop so gorgeous, only minimal decor was needed and the guests were able to dance under the stars while listening to the waves crash beside them until the early morning hours! This venue is a dream come true for any couple that loves the beach and a tropical escape!

For my second wedding in Spain, I teamed up with Lucy & Jesus from The Boutique Wedding Co. at the romantic Cortijo El Esparragal. Every corner you turn throughout this picturesque venue, you are greeted with lush gardens, courtyards full of bright flowers and fountains, and white walls adorned with cascading greens. When I arrived prior to the set-up I found myself wondering how the decor for the day could match these stunning surroundings!

Luckily, Lucy and Jesus are expert planners and designers, with experience working at over 70 venues across Andalucia. Lucy handles all of the design and styling while they team up with Flores La Boheme who handles the execution of the florals the day of the wedding. I was mesmerized by their work, and the exquisite theme they created. With whimsical olive branches, oranges, and bright pops of pink - it truly fit perfectly with the ambiance of the venue.

The ceremony set-up was equally as impressive, with vibrant Spanish fans preset on the guests' seats, hoops of greenery and oranges acting as the backdrop, and smoke bomb exit! This was by far the most original ceremony exit I have ever witnessed and the timing was pulled off perfectly!

Following the ceremony guests enjoyed a strolling cocktail hour throughout the courtyards of the estate, later moving on to the reception which was held under a canopy of string lights and the evening stars of the Andalusian sky! Later in the night the dancing took place in another courtyard lined with lanterns, colorful streamers and a grand fountain as the centerpiece.

The couple made a smart move hiring a drone to capture every angle of this enchanting evening, complete with a firework show to end the celebration! The sheer vibrancy and originality of this wedding made it one of my favorites thus far in my journey!

Both of my experiences in Spain were amazing in their own way, as each was very different! It's so remarkable how even within one country wedding styles and traditions can vary drastically!

Excited to share my next adventure with you in Italy!
