A Tropical Balinese Wedding

My month living in Bali was definitely straight out of Eat Pray Love, complete with a visit to a healer in the jungle of Ubud, learning to surf, chasing waterfalls by day and enjoying seafood dinners on the beach by night. Known as the "Island of the Gods", it's a setting that provokes powerful and beautiful experiences all around - making it an amazing location not only for vacation but also for weddings!

A Wedding in Bali to conclude my journey definitely checked the final box on my Worldwide Wedding Bucket-list! While weddings with tropical/bohemian vibes have definitely been trending in recent years, it was an absolute dream to experience an authentic Island wedding in the heart of Bali at the stunning Villa Bayu.

For this wedding I worked with the incredibly talented team at Vara Wedding who create stunning weddings all over the island of Bali and across Indonesia. They partner with reputable local suppliers to provide everything from Decor to Legal Advice pertaining the the nuptials!

To start the day, the ceremony was held offsite at New Kuta Golf, perched on top of cliffs directly overlooking the crystal clear coastline of the Indian Ocean. It was a picture perfect location for the couple to say their vows among an intimate group of family and friends!

After the ceremony, the guests retreated to the Villa for a poolside cocktail reception and dinner party on the lower terrace with a live band and delicious local cuisine. The team at Silverdust Decor created a beautiful photo lounge space and lush tropical garlands that adorned the tabletops. As an extra special touch, each guest had a beautiful personalized leaf place card and gift box at their place setting when they arrived at their seat for the dinner portion of the evening!

The entire design for the wedding was impeccably cohesive with so many fun tropical elements every corner you turned! Even the Bar featured a canoe of the local Bintang Beer and the buffet was overflowing with authentic Indonesian dishes for the guests to enjoy. The festoon lights and breathtaking sunset sky created the most stunning ambiance to set the tone for the evening. As a nod to the Bride's culture, traditional Slovakian dancing kicked off the official party!

This wedding was the perfect conclusion to my journey across the globe! Now that I have settled back in the US, I reflect on this year as one of the most valuable experiences of my career. Not only was I able to learn about the extremely diverse network of wedding trends and traditions around the world, but I was also able to build connections with some of the most talented planning teams in this industry from South America to Asia. I am eternally grateful for every single wedding professional who I had a chance to collaborate with on this journey and I sincerely hope our paths cross again!
